yeah the gypsy jokers were very notorious in my area of southeast portland. i have a friend who has an uncle and he and his father are members of the gypsy jokers still, the gang still rides. keep riding jokers!
True 1%er's .. I never met a Gypsy Joker I didn't Like and To Know Them is To Love Them ..They Ride Hard , Party Hard, Love Hard and Live Life the way They see fit, Their Loyality and Respect for each other has withstood the Tests of Time. They Truly are The Last of The Great American Outlaws..Positively BLACK & WHITE.. Keep Motorcycling Free.Suspect Your Local Gypsy Jokers..
Known a few, liked a few, had a child w/one. Remember when the Harmony Inn in SE Portland was their bar? I worked there then, wow, what crazy days! Artie was one of my best friends. Who remembers some of the old timers who are gone? Funny Sonny, Turtle?
Gypsy Jokers R who I can now call My Family I have nothing but pure Respect 4 them all the way! I Dated 1 of there Family Member B4 I knew who & what they were & when I found out I was Pleased 2 know that I was W/ Some 1 who would not Hurt Me like past Boyfriends & now Accepted N2 the Family @ now supporting them & who & what they stand 4 I got a Tattoo in Honer of My Family.
I have an uncle who is a Gypsy Joker. I have met quite a few of them when I did a little bit of time, including Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, Washington. Back in the 70's, they used to ride their bikes in the yard, and yes, in Maximum Security. They still are well and alive in there, cept for no bikes. The brotherhood helps each other watch each other's back, and try to avoid fights as long as possible. There's even a chapter of them in a book called "Concrete Mama", and it's about the life and times of some of the well known inmates and groups.
I of course will ALWAYS remember the Gypsy Jokers,as my, dad was (is) a Gypsy Joker his name was " Longview Tom". He died just over 11 months ago. I love you daddy and miss you tremendously.
Glen Miller-Stockton.Fresno 1970's Glen died 9 yrs ago but was /is a gypsy joker-his jacket was cremated with him. Our friend another ex-biker just took his ashes out to the Redwoods for me-that my friend is honor.
its juliebutt, i rember the old days and the old ways. old school is what i call it today. and now its a new generation, and im so proud to say and have waited 28yrs to see my son ride his dads bike. who no longer can ride. so his son now rides and partys with the old and the new,but was raised with the old ways, i am proud to say.i know his dad would be and is to.
much love and respect always.
Lived at the pres house in the eightys learned about respect loyalty and how to keep my mouth shut. knew mex joe all his kids and kat , kat helped me to get back on track ill always be greatful for that i wish them all the best ride on guys .....
Turtle passed on a while ago (may he RIP). Lots of the fellows are left running around. I am good friends with the "Wiz", in fact I rented a house from him about 5 years ago & still work at the same company that he does. I have screwed the hell out of several of the guys & partied with almost all of the fellows in the 80's. I am happy to say that they are here to stay. Oh, and regarding Concrete Mama, Bobby T & his wife were my closest friends. And I loved both Longview Tom & Carol, I am sad for your loss.
I knew some of the G.J.'s & Outlaws back in the 70's. Foot, Murphy, Jon-Jon Bandera(spelling)Jon- Jon was hit by a car hauler & dragged for a mile or so & lived to tell about it. He was cute but the accident didn't do his head much good!Coming home after a late night bar shift & finding the punks rebuilding J Jon's bike in the kitchen & using the lace curtains for a rag!!
Gary~I think from the Outlaws. Brother(shit-stain)from the Outlaws lived with Cheryl next door to me on N.Fox in St Johns. Longgggg time ago! They always laughed cause I made the boys shower & wear clean clothes.!Later I owned mine own 1960 Sporty & hung with independent Stevie Walker
If you know Jon Jon you probably remember Three Set Cycle. Reggie & Cliff? I lived about 4 blocks from the shop & we all partied at Wendies Pub across the street. Man those days were crazy. Does anyone know Rudy? I adored him...
My uncle is a Gypsy Joker and taught me some lessons when I was a young punk growing up. He taught me,pride, honor and loyalty with respect. How can anyone put a person down just because he wears a patch! I also did some time with East Side Bob back in the days who also had the same out look on life! Stay strong 1%ers Love ya uncle Apache.......................

hi does anybody remember east coast mother fuckers or chosen few from new bedford mass
it was back in the early 70's and my dad was invited by the gypsy jokers to come to walla walla for a big party. my dad was a well known bike builder and they wanted him to build some choppers. I remember them pulling into our yard at midnight on their harleys waking up the whole neigborhood. They all thought we were scary lol. mom was pissed because it was a school night.
Hey, everybody, I know this is probably like looking for a needle in a hay stack but I figured I would give it a shot....My parents used to ride with the gypsy jokers a longggg time ago, I was looking for my mom and I keep hitting dead ends....she moved around alot and has about 15 or so AKA's....I tried asking my dad but he keeps giving me different stories every time I ask so I gave up on that....if anyone is interested in helping me I would greatly appreciate it...I guess just leave a post responding and I will give you a list of some of her names or even his as well...
thank you
crystal :)
My Dad "Wino Joe" was not only a Gypsy Joker, but he spent his life preserving their history through his photos and writings. He passed away May 2008. I miss him so much. His memorial in Half Moon Bay, CA was amazing and I know that there were a lot of people who loved him. He lived free, and he was honest, that is all I guess you can ask. Lz

after reading quite a few of these comments it's helped me understand a lot about the relationship that i share with the man i'm currently dating. We've always had solid ground in our life and relationship as far as respect, loyalaty, trust and pride. I always wondered if i could trust a man again let along anyone after my past. I've seen here and also lived it that the gypsy jokers and club house members have morals and values and they take them very serious, i honor that. There are good men left out there. Thank God for once I finally believed, this was a great confirmation. Always rememeber and never forget:
respect
trust
honor
pride
loyalty
After reading some trash some sh-t mouth wannabe laid down on another page I gotta say I am happy to see some families teach what it is to take care of their own and the Jokers still do. I was Mrs. Hugo, the only one of my kind. My Man died in '85 of what could be construed as some kind a broken heart. Anyone that has been to the club house has seen some of his art work. He was one of the Wiz's body guards when the Wiz was 'Lil Mike. Not to mention a Joker to the bone and the love of my life. Anyway happy to see a blog from Juliebutt. I love you and miss you girl. Call me. There is always gonna be ignorant hater's that don't understand what they don't know, so they condemn. It has always been that way and always will be. Longview Tom used to say "Stand up and be Counted or Lay Down and get Mounted." I think that says it all except that jealousy can be very distructfull. Keep the wind on your face and stay free brothers and sisters. Love and respect to all.
Apparently the GJ are still alive and well. Here is an article about them being sited for stopping trafic in Boise, Idaho.

My Mom said his name was Edward Armstrong and his son's name was Ricky. He stayed with my mom in Toledo Oregon wile @ the time her husband was in Jail. The gypsy Jokers I guess knew him and for them not hurtting him (Robert Owden) Mom acomidated Edward Allen Armstrong. That was in 1968. Well I was born May 8th 1969 at Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport,OR and I guess The gypsy Jockers rode in to see me but the cops escorted them out of town. So my real father new of me but then My mom kept him away. I don't know if all this is true but she is sure he was with the GJ's and he had a son who was about 11 at the time. Can anyone help? Hey guys. Just ran across this thread and wanted to address you folks talking about the East Coast Mother Fuckers.
Back in the late 70's I had a foster sister who dated a a member called O.B.. My mother had the MC over for a few parties. I remember they brought a cast iron bath tub up to our third floor apartment and filled it with beer.
I think the leaders name was Bird. At 8 yrs old he made me an honorary member, lol. Even gave me a cool leather cap that I wish I still had. Anyhow, just wanted to share that memory. Good guys and I was sad when they were disbanded.
Hey freewheelin , Yah, East coast m.f. 1967 and on I remember from the bar on rt1 in walpole to the clubhouse in east foxboro ,I have a group foto the day we moved into the clubhouse and news clippings from the fire . Definitely agree with USAFOREVER's comments. It IS all about respect and loyalty-loving and living hard to the fullest...My father was the youngest one ever admitted back in 1966 when I was born and he was just 18 yrs. old. I am his first born and only daughter to the best of my knowledge so I still am always searching for any pictures out there that folks can send me of my daddy. His name was Charles Amacher-Chuckers.Peace
I did time with Joe Trajo,in the late 80's, I believe that he was the "National President" at the time of his arrest, he was a stand up guy on the yard, I've always wondered what became of him.

I just come accross this page looking to see if I could find any connection to my Uncle Ernie and Uncle Robert's old buddies. I grew up with the Gypsy Jokers, and my mother "Ernie in a dress" as the guys used to call her, had a very good life with them. When I was 13 my Uncle Robert (Lighthouse), as he was known then passed away, and in 2005, Uncle Ernie "The Hat" or "Ogre" passed away. I am a single mom now, and amd rebuilding one of their old bikes as a tribute to them and the family. My mom and I have been looking for some of the "old" members, but not sure how to connect. Dancing Dagwood, Foaming Tom, Ugly, you all know who you are, and so should your kids. If anyone has any idea how I can reach some of them, I do have a facebook page, under Laura Lynch Morgan.
My sister used to be married to a GJ named Ron Day. I think he was, also, called "Gimp". The was in the 1960's in California.
Who were the founding mebers in sf?
I joined in ''67. Twenty five original members. We later expanded. Ralph Pontin was president. Frankie Forbert vice pres. Billy D came up with the patch design. We used to ride to Narraganset, Revere. Sometimes got together with the Devil's Disciples to party.
I found Jesus in the ACI in '70. Still walking with Him.
I miss some of those guys ....
California jack?
My Father also was a East Coast Mother Fucker back in the 70's
he has passed on to another world still riding his Harley I am sure.
I ride Harleys Myself only chose a different direction than him . God rest his sole.
I did time w/ Ron Chase about 16 yrs ago after he was brought up from Georgia, spent 2 months w/him in Jackson Co., sorry to hear he passed. I liked him alot, good people. Went to prison book camp with ?? Silverthorn also.

Thank You Whoever You Guys Were...
So a few years back I put a post up asking if anyone could recall knowing my mother cuz I was looking for her. I just wanted to update you all and tell you I have found her. She went by the name Brandy and was from California and was friends with a lot of the Gypsies, my father actually was not a Gypsy Joker but was what I guess you call a hang around. In 1982 they lived in Seattle (where I was born)when he kidnapped me from her and took me clear across the country. From what she told me quite a few of the Gypsies helped her look for me for some time...it took 30 years for us to reunite but we are now together and I now know the truth. I just thought that the ones that helped her search for me as a baby still may wonder what ever came of me and her. I am very good and she is wonderful as well So thank you all that stood by her and helped her in my search.
Thats cool it sounds like me but my mom kidnapped me. good luck eck
Hi I was wondering if anyone knows or knew of a guy named Ed Bye or Ed Bigh.I was told he was with the Gypsy Jokers and it was 1968 and 1969 in Oregon. I am looking for him because my mom has now passed away and I was told that he was possibly my father.Him and his friends knew a guy they were not fond of whose name at the time was Robert Owden and changed it to Joseph James later. They knew him from the pin. That might be a link. Mom's name at the time was Diana Owden and had a little boy and girl.Mom hung out with the Gypsy Jokers at that time and was with him.I was told the Gypsy Jokers tried to see me at the hospital in Newport Oregon but was told to turn around by the cops. I have searched everywhere and so this is why I am posting this. I would really like to find him or his family. I was told he had a son named Ricky. Can anyone help? Can you email me at ldegranny@gmail.com if you have any info. I hope it is ok to post this. Thank you
Yeah my dad used to be in the Gypsy Jokers but he retired to talk care of me i mess riding with them.

My dad was Mudhole. No longer a joker last I heard. Been many years since I last saw some of the guys. Learned allot of stuff from a few. Really liked the ones I knew. I remember a guy named headbutt bob. I believe he passed and I remember a guy named Murderin Mike, Parnelli sounds familiar as well. I was a kid at the time but really liked these guys
I found this blog while looking for some old photos by Wino Joe. I was there when he escaped from the cops on our way back from LaGrange in '69. He made it back to the clubhouse in San Jose. I heard he was still in cuffs. The last time I saw him Toothy & I rolled down to his place in the middle of the night from SJ. It's fucked up that so many of the posts are from kids looking for parents. I know/knew all but 1 or 2 of the people being searched for. A couple members are doing a 'Memory Wall' at the Portland clubhouse, They have collected a lot of club history. Checking w/Portland chapter would be a good place to start Lz; [Wino's kid] let me know how to contact you. I have some info for others, but I would need to check around.
ONE SPECIAL NOTE : DAVID, I know both Eastside & Maynard. I CAN TELL YOU ONE THING FOR SURE; NO MATTER WHAT YOUR PROBLEM IS, EASTSIDE WOULD BITCH-SLAP YOUR ASS HIMSELF FOR TALKING SHIT LIKE THIS IN PUBLIC IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM W/A MEMBER, GROW SOME BALLS & DEAL W/IT STRAIGHT UP. IF YOU CAN'T, THEN SHUT YOUR FUCKING FACE.
H. Don Gypsy Joker m/c U*S*A
Jon-Jon, aka; Jon Twice, aka; Jon 2Times: I tried to help your son find you a few years back. No luck. He's a good guy. You would be proud of him. His name is Paul McBride. He lives in Portland.
I have an uncle that used to hang out with the Spokane chapter of Gypsy Jokers and I saw one of the members back in '09 at a Hillyard's Safeway gas station. Whenever my uncle talks about how he used to be when in his teens and early 20's, he talks about the Gypsy Jokers and how close he was with them. And I totally respect how the way of life is for them, I was just wanting to actually meet one and talk to them, but that may be because the television show Sons of Anarchy may not be getting it right and I want to know what is and what isn't and researching on the net doesn't do it justice. So if anyone that used to ride with the Gypsy Jokers in the late 80's, early 90's remembers the last name of Bedeski, I appreciate a reply. I know my uncle would love to see how people he knew back then are doing nowadays. Thanks for reading and may you always be free, able to ride, and enjoy the good times.
